Dear Reader,

The work we’ve read during this past submission cycle has been astounding, and because of the incredible writers who’ve submitted their babies (and we do think of every story, poem, and essay sent out in the world as a baby), our second issue features more work than we could have imagined or hoped for.

There is no theme for this issue, but each piece will crack you open and poke your most tender parts. All have, in some way, made us look at the world differently for a day. We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you for submitting, thank you for contributing, and thank you for reading this weird little swamp journal.

Love,
Stephanie and Kristin

P.S. Don’t forget to look for the secret recipe in Allie Marini’s “How to Make a Dogpatch Cake.” We hear it’s delicious.
